RUSH MEMORIAL Activities & Events
God has truly blessed us here at Rush Memorial by allowing us to be of service to our homeless community by extending a helping hand to those in need, as well as being of service to others in the area.
In October, we met with Mrs. Shelia Burton, who is the director of the Education Advocacy Project, to present them with a gift of thanks for their continued efforts in working with the children and families of School District #189 in East St. Louis, IL. Elder Carl E. Pinkston; Pastor of Rush Memorial Church of the Nazarene, Mrs. Shelia Burton; Director, Education Advocacy Project, Mrs. Eva Pinkston, Rush Memorial & Mrs. Muriel Shackelford, Rush Memorial and Assistant Director, Education Advocacy Project

November proved to be even more of a blessing for the Rush Memorial Church family. Every year for the past 22 years, with help and donations of food & willing, dedicated workers, Rush Memorial has sponsored their Pre-Thanksgiving “Feed the Community” dinner, where we open our hearts and doors to those who are living on the streets, low income families and to anyone in need of a hot meal and a word from the Lord. It is always held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This year’s turnout was a huge success.

Rush Memorial is partnered with the agencies of the “Continuum of Life Care Center” and the “Metro East Weather Crisis Task Force” and on Dec. 2nd, we were blessed to be a part of the “Project Connect Homeless Workshop” held at the “Continuum of Life Care Center/ Paulyn House” located at 1274 N. 37th St. in East St. Louis, IL.
Our guests were greeted by the Mayor of East St. Louis, “Mayor Alvin Parks Jr.” Hundreds turned out for this helpful, informative event.
